Video: Superficial Temporal Artery Dissection

This video demonstrates the stepwise dissection of the superficial temporal artery. Traditionally, dissection of the STA involves a direct cutdown on the artery after marking the course of the artery on the skin with the help of aDoppler ultrasound probe. The authors describe a method that takes advantage of the position of the STA superficial to the temporal fascia.

Neurosurgery in 3-D: A Feature of Operative Neurosurgery

In recognition of the increasing importance of 3-D video illustration as a surgical educational tool, Neurosurgery has launched a 3-D surgical video illustration section that will be featured routinely in Operative Neurosurgery. This section is overseen by a panel of peer reviewers to ensure that only high-quality surgical videos are published. Each 3-D video consists of a brief narrated PowerPoint presentation of the case including relevant preoperative imaging followed by a narrated 3-D surgical video illustrating the most important technical aspects of the surgical case. Every surgical video has a corresponding written, brief unstructured abstract. 3-D videos are available for free access on the YouTube site of the Neurosurgery journal.
