This article summarizes the history and most recent recommendations of the Concussion in Sport Group (CISG), whose guidelines for the diagnosis and management of sports-related concussion are the most widely quoted works on this subject. The recently published proceedings of the CISG differ slightly from previous versions, and these differences are highlighted. Also, the CISG introduced two new concussion management tools, which are presented and discussed. Neurosurgeons should be familiar with these guidelines and tools to optimize their care of concussed athletes.
