“In Spring 2013, I first proposed my ideas for the expansion of Operative Neurosurgery (ONS).1 I am happy to announce that since then, ONS has evolved into a separate publication with a rich variety of content including operative procedures, instrumentation, and case series featuring rich multimedia such as 2-D and 3-D videos, high quality anatomic and surgical illustrations, augmented reality, and animation. ONS has received its own International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) and has been accepted for indexing in Thomson Reuter’s Web of Science™. In its continued efforts to ensure the successful transition of ONS, the Journal has applied for an initial Impact Factor (IF) from Thomson Reuters and will petition the US National Library of Medicine® (NLM) for indexing in MEDLINE®/PubMed.
